Hialeah, Florida — A former private school teacher in South Florida is facing serious criminal charges after authorities alleged she physically abused an 8-year-old student diagnosed with autism and ADHD during a classroom incident that was partially captured on video.
The case has drawn significant attention after investigators released details of the alleged confrontation and the injuries reportedly suffered by the child.
Video Becomes Key Piece of Investigation
Authorities say the incident involved Nicole Rodriguez, a former teacher at Peace Christian Academy in Hialeah. Video footage obtained through a public records request reportedly shows portions of the encounter between Rodriguez and the student.
Although the video has been heavily redacted, investigators say it appears to show a woman restraining or physically struggling with a child for several minutes.
