MELROSE PARK, Illinois — An employee at an Amazon fulfillment center in suburban Chicago has been charged with murder after authorities say he fatally shot a co-worker during a dispute that unfolded in a company parking garage.
According to the Melrose Park Police Department, 27-year-old Travion R. Taylor was killed in a shooting that occurred on the morning of June 4 at the Amazon Fulfillment Center located in the 1800 block of 5th Avenue.
Police Respond to Deadly Shooting at Amazon Facility
Officers were dispatched to the facility shortly after 9 a.m. following reports of gunfire in the control-accessed parking garage. Upon arrival, police discovered Taylor suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency responders transported the victim to Loyola Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The shooting prompted an immediate investigation as detectives worked to determine what led to the violence at the workplace.
Investigators Say Dispute Led to Gunfire
Preliminary findings, including witness interviews, indicated the incident was connected to a “domestic-related dispute” involving the suspect and another individual who was with Taylor at the time of the shooting.
According to police, an argument escalated into a physical confrontation before the suspect allegedly produced a semi-automatic rifle.
“During a physical altercation, the offender produced a semi-automatic rifle and discharged multiple rounds in the direction of the two individuals, striking the victim in the back,” police stated in a release.
Authorities did not immediately identify the second individual involved in the dispute or explain the nature of the relationship between the parties.
Suspect Allegedly Fled Before Arrest
Police identified the suspect as Quentin S. Williams Jr., an employee at the same Amazon facility.

Investigators say Williams fled the scene after the shooting. Law enforcement later located and arrested him in connection with Taylor’s death.
