Fort Bend County, Texas — A Texas woman is facing felony charges after authorities say she repeatedly abandoned her young daughter, leaving the child alone for days at a time and forcing her to seek help from law enforcement when food ran out.
Investigators allege the child, who reportedly has a disability, was left without proper supervision on multiple occasions despite concerns already being raised by child welfare authorities.
Child Allegedly Left Alone While Mother Traveled Abroad
According to court documents, Phillipi Angela Walker is accused of abandoning her daughter on at least two separate occasions in November.
Investigators say one incident occurred on November 21, 2025, when Walker allegedly left the country and traveled to Honduras while her daughter remained alone at home.
According to a probable cause affidavit, the child eventually contacted law enforcement because she had no food.
“The child proceeded to call police for food after being left home alone for two (2) days,” the affidavit states.
Authorities say the situation could have become even more serious had the child not reached out for help.
“If the juvenile had not made the call for food to the Sheriff’s Office, she would have not been discovered for more days,” investigators added.
Girl Reportedly Survived on Birthday Cake
Court records do not publicly identify the child’s age, but local reports citing investigators state she was 8 years old at the time. Authorities also noted concerns regarding the child’s ability to care for herself.
“The child has a mental deficiency that possibly bounds her to not being aware of her surroundings,” investigators wrote.
According to reports, one detective involved in the case said the young girl had been surviving primarily on birthday cake while left alone inside the residence. The allegation has sparked outrage and concern throughout the community.
Authorities Say Child Was Found Alone Again Days Later
Just days after the initial incident, investigators reportedly placed Walker’s residence under surveillance.
According to authorities, on November 24, Walker allegedly left the child home alone once again while reporting to work at the Houston Veteran Affairs Hospital.
Officials say her shift was scheduled from 3:30 p.m. until 12:30 a.m. After law enforcement stopped Walker during a traffic stop, investigators questioned her about the child’s whereabouts.
According to the affidavit, Walker allegedly told officers she had asked her grandfather to check on the child. However, investigators claim she was uncooperative when directly asked whether any children were inside the residence.

Deputies Discover Additional Safety Concerns
Authorities later entered the home and once again found the child alone. Investigators also reported discovering several potential hazards inside the residence.
According to court documents, deputies found “three large knifes accessible to [the child] who with mental deficiency could access.”
The discovery led officers to immediately take Walker into custody.
Authorities also allege Walker should not have had custody of the child at the time because a previous Child Protective Services (CPS) safety plan required the girl to stay with another family member following the earlier incident.
Mother Faces Felony Charges
Walker has been charged with two counts of felony child abandonment or endangerment. Court records indicate she is scheduled to appear for another hearing on June 29.
Authorities have not released additional information regarding the ongoing case. The allegations remain accusations, and Walker is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
