Frisco, Texas — Families across North Texas have a major new attraction to look forward to as Universal officially announced the opening date for its highly anticipated Universal Kids Resort, a first-of-its-kind theme park designed specifically for younger children.
The new resort, which has been years in the making, is scheduled to welcome guests beginning July 1, 2026, bringing beloved characters, interactive attractions and family-friendly experiences to Frisco.
Universal Confirms Grand Opening Date
After months of anticipation, Universal revealed that the new resort will officially open its gates next summer.
Located on a 20-acre site in Frisco, the project represents a significant expansion of Universal’s entertainment portfolio and marks the company’s first theme park concept created primarily for young children and their families.
“This is a theme park built with kids in mind,” said Sharon Parker, Director of Marketing and Sales for Universal Kids Resort.
Unlike Universal’s larger destinations in Florida and California, the Frisco park is designed as a more accessible regional attraction focused on younger guests.
Seven Themed Lands Inspired by Popular Characters
Universal says the park will feature seven immersive themed lands, each built around some of the company’s most recognizable family-friendly franchises.
Guests will be able to explore attractions inspired by:
- Shrek
- SpongeBob SquarePants
- Jurassic World
- Minions
- Trolls
- Puss in Boots
- Gabby’s Dollhouse
Officials say the attractions are intentionally designed to be “kid-sized,” giving younger visitors interactive spaces to play, explore and cool off while engaging with their favorite characters.
The resort is primarily targeted toward children ages 3 to 8, although Universal expects the experience to appeal to guests of all ages.
“At the end of the day, we think that the inner child in all of us is going to be brought to life once those families come to the park,” Parker said.
New Family Hotel Opening Alongside the Park
In addition to the theme park, visitors will also have access to the new Universal Kids Resort Hotel, located just steps from the main entrance.
The hotel will feature 300 rooms and family suites, all designed with families in mind.
According to Universal, guests can choose from several room options, including:
- Standard Queen Rooms
- Deluxe Queen Rooms
- Signature Queen Rooms
- Family Suites
The larger family suites can accommodate up to six guests, while several standard room categories can sleep up to five visitors.
The property will also include themed décor, family-focused dining options and a resort-style pool.
Tickets and Vacation Packages Now Available
Along with the opening date announcement, Universal confirmed that tickets are officially on sale.
Guests can currently purchase:
- One-day admission tickets
- Two-day admission tickets
- Vacation packages
- Annual passes
Universal also introduced a special “1.5-Day” admission option, allowing guests additional flexibility during their visit.
Many vacation packages include hotel accommodations, early park entry and other exclusive on-site benefits. Hotel stays are available beginning June 30, 2026, one day before the park officially opens.
Frisco Expected to Benefit From Major Tourism Boost
Since first announcing the project in 2023, Universal has promoted the resort as a unique entertainment destination that differs from its larger Orlando and Hollywood parks.
City leaders and tourism officials expect the attraction to generate significant economic activity while drawing visitors from across Texas and beyond.
With construction nearing completion and ticket sales already underway, Universal Kids Resort is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated family attractions opening in the country next year.
