Bronx, New York — A deadly confrontation aboard a New York City bus ended with a 41-year-old man losing his life after police say he became involved in an argument with a teenager who was talking loudly on his cellphone.

Authorities are now searching for the young suspect, who allegedly fled after opening fire during the dispute.

Argument Began During Bus Ride

According to police and law enforcement sources, the incident unfolded aboard a BX36 bus in the Bronx on Monday afternoon.

Investigators say the victim and a teenage passenger became involved in a verbal confrontation after the older man reportedly took issue with the teen speaking loudly on his cellphone.

Sources indicated the victim asked the teenager to quiet down during the call, leading to an escalating argument between the two passengers.

What began as a disagreement over noise quickly turned violent.

Shooting Occurred in Broad Daylight

Authorities said the shooting happened at approximately 2:30 p.m. near East Tremont Avenue and White Plains Road in the Parkchester section of the Bronx.

During the confrontation, the teen allegedly pulled out a handgun and fired at the victim. Police said the 41-year-old man was struck in the stomach.

The shooting occurred while the bus was carrying passengers, creating panic among those onboard. Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene following reports of gunfire.

Victim Dies at Hospital

Following the shooting, the wounded passenger was transported to Jacobi Medical Center for emergency treatment. Despite efforts by medical personnel, authorities said the victim later died from his injuries.

Police have not yet publicly released the victim’s identity pending family notification.

Teen Suspect Remains at Large

Authorities described the suspect as a teenage male believed to be between 13 and 16 years old. According to police sources, the suspect was wearing a white T-shirt and allegedly used a black handgun during the shooting.

After firing the shot, the teen reportedly fled the scene on foot, heading south along White Plains Road. As of the latest update, no arrests had been announced.
