Los Angeles, California — A heartbreaking tragedy has left a California community mourning after twin 10-year-old boys were found dead alongside their father in what police are investigating as a murder-suicide.

Authorities identified the children as Joseph Chavez and Greysen Chavez, two brothers whose lives were cut short in a devastating incident that unfolded Sunday evening.

Police Respond to Apartment After Shooting Report

According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), officers were dispatched to an apartment on Owensmouth Avenue at approximately 7:15 p.m. following reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived at the residence, they discovered three people deceased inside the apartment.

Police said the victims included the twin boys and a 37-year-old man believed to be their father. Authorities reported that all three individuals had suffered apparent gunshot wounds.

Investigators also recovered a handgun at the scene.

The LAPD stated that detectives from the Robbery-Homicide Division, Special Section are leading the investigation.

While the case remains under review, authorities say evidence currently points to a murder-suicide. Police believe the father fatally shot both children before taking his own life.
