Patrick Webb, a young boy from Fort Worth, accidentally left behind his beloved teddy bear, Bobby, at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport while heading to the Virgin Islands with his family for vacation.
The cherished stuffed animal could have easily become another lost item in a busy airport, but thanks to the efforts of American Airlines employees, Bobby’s unexpected journey became an adventure of its own.
Family Realized Teddy Bear Was Missing Too Late
According to Patrick’s father, Joe Webb, the family discovered Bobby was missing just as they were boarding their flight.
With departure time quickly approaching, they attempted to locate the teddy bear before takeoff, but there was little time available to search.
“We realized we forgot him as we were boarding, and things were tight,” Webb explained.
After the plane departed, the family completed a lost-and-found report and hoped for the best. Like many parents facing a similar situation, they worried whether the treasured toy would ever be found.
What happened next, however, was something they never expected.
Airport Employees Gave Bobby a Vacation of His Own
Not long after filing the report, the Webb family began receiving updates about Bobby.
American Airlines employees had located the teddy bear and decided to make his stay at the airport a memorable one. Instead of simply placing the toy in storage until the family returned, staff members documented Bobby’s weeklong airport adventure through a series of photos.
The updates showed the stuffed bear exploring areas of the airport rarely seen by travelers.
“It had all these amazing pictures of what Bobby had been doing,” Webb said. “And we were just so thankful that someone was taking care of him.”
As the family enjoyed their Caribbean vacation, Bobby appeared to be having quite an adventure back in Texas.

American Airlines later shared a video on social media showcasing Bobby’s behind-the-scenes experiences.
The playful footage featured the teddy bear taking on several airport jobs, including driving a baggage tug, helping with luggage operations, posing as a pilot, and assisting flight attendants during beverage service.
The airline embraced the lighthearted story and celebrated Bobby’s temporary role as part of the airport team. In a social media post accompanying the video, the airline wrote:
