Boca Raton, Florida — A South Florida woman says a casual online dating connection turned into a years-long nightmare involving stalking allegations, fake phone numbers, disturbing messages and a legal battle that dramatically altered her life.
The woman, identified only as “M,” says the ordeal began after a brief relationship with a man she met online in 2021.
Online Dating Connection Takes Unexpected Turn
According to M, she briefly dated Richard Anderson after meeting him online.
The situation reportedly changed after Anderson’s name appeared in an “Are We Dating the Same Guy?” Facebook group. M said she informed him about the post because she did not believe the accusations being made against him.
What seemed like a minor incident eventually escalated into years of legal and emotional turmoil.
Years later, M said she was unexpectedly served with a stalking injunction after Anderson accused her of sending thousands of messages from fake phone numbers.
M denied the allegations and said she was shocked by the accusations.
“I thought somebody was impersonating me, essentially,” she said.
Court Order Created Major Challenges
According to M, a judge initially ruled against her despite her denials.
As a result, she was reportedly ordered to undergo an evaluation and attend anger management classes.
The decision significantly impacted her life and left her searching for answers about who may have been behind the messages.
The case eventually caught the attention of investigators who began taking a closer look at the origins of the communications.
Police Investigation Raises New Questions
Davie Police Detective Kenneth DeArmas later investigated the case and reviewed records connected to the alleged messages.
Authorities discovered that many of the communications originated from TextNow phone numbers, Gmail accounts and IP addresses linked to VPN services.
Police said investigators could not connect M to the accounts, devices or locations associated with the messages.
“Her cellphone records did not ever put her there though. So, I was kind of like at a dead end ‘cause I’m like, well, her phone’s never there,” DeArmas said.
The findings raised doubts about the allegations that had originally been made against her.
Investigators Trace Activity to Boca Raton Hotel
As the investigation continued, detectives eventually tracked some of the IP addresses to a hotel in Boca Raton.
Police said a woman named Gressa Dugan was living there at the time and allegedly had a previous connection to Anderson.
According to investigators, the case became even more concerning when M’s underage daughter reportedly began receiving disturbing messages.

Authorities said the communications included explicit altered images that allegedly incorporated M’s face.
Police believe Anderson and Dugan worked together in a campaign that targeted the child.
Criminal Charges Filed in Case
Investigators ultimately filed charges against both Anderson and Dugan.
Authorities say the pair now face aggravated stalking of a minor charges related to messages allegedly sent to M’s daughter.
Police confirmed that Dugan remains in the Broward County Jail while legal proceedings continue.
Meanwhile, M said the stalking injunction previously issued against her was eventually reversed.
Despite that outcome, she says the experience has left lasting emotional scars on both her and her family.
Reflecting on the ordeal, M offered a warning to others who may believe something similar could never happen to them.
“This could happen to anyone,” she said.
