Baltimore, Maryland — A Maryland woman accused of attacking a 71-year-old great-grandfather during a dispute over a parking space could soon face homicide charges after the victim died from injuries he allegedly suffered during the confrontation.
The case has drawn significant attention after medical examiners officially ruled the victim’s death a homicide, potentially increasing the legal consequences for those involved.
Parking Dispute Allegedly Escalated Into Violent Attack
According to prosecutors, the incident occurred on October 15, 2025, involving Gregory Turnipseed, a Baltimore Department of Transportation investigator who was working at the time.
Authorities say Turnipseed approached a vehicle driven by 49-year-old Kiannah Bonaparte to inform her that another vehicle was waiting for the parking space she was preparing to enter.
What began as a routine interaction allegedly turned violent moments later.
Prosecutors claim Bonaparte’s 15-year-old daughter exited the vehicle and punched Turnipseed in the face during the confrontation.
Prosecutors Say Victim Was Kicked in the Head
Court records allege that when Turnipseed attempted to restrain the teenager, the situation escalated further. Authorities say Bonaparte allegedly jumped onto the 71-year-old’s back, causing him to fall to the ground. Prosecutors allege she then delivered a devastating blow.
According to investigators, Bonaparte kicked Turnipseed in the head while he was on the ground, causing injuries that would later prove fatal.
After the attack, prosecutors say Bonaparte and her daughter left the scene. The violent confrontation allegedly left Turnipseed suffering from serious head trauma.
Victim Fought for Weeks Before Dying
Following the assault, Turnipseed was hospitalized and diagnosed with a brain bleed and significant memory issues.
Despite the severity of his injuries, authorities say he was able to identify Bonaparte during a police lineup. Doctors performed surgery in an effort to save his life, but his condition continued to deteriorate.
Nearly six weeks after the attack, Turnipseed died from complications related to his injuries. His death occurred one day before Thanksgiving, adding another layer of heartbreak for his family.
Following his death, medical examiners officially ruled the case a homicide.
Family Remembers Beloved Great-Grandfather
Family members attended recent court proceedings and spoke publicly about the devastating loss.
“I just thought it wasn’t real. I didn’t believe it until I actually saw it. I just couldn’t believe that someone would do that to him,” Turnipseed’s daughter, La’Cheryl Turnipseed-White, told WBAL.
Loved ones described him as a generous and caring man who was always willing to help others.

“He would help anybody. He’s always been like that,” Turnipseed-White said.
His cousin, Deborah Carrington, also shared emotional remarks after seeing Bonaparte in court.
“It was very emotional seeing Miss Bonaparte today,” Carrington added.
“It was a horrendous thing that she did to a very nice, loving person.”
Homicide Charges Could Be Filed
Bonaparte was initially charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, conspiracy to commit first-degree assault and reckless endangerment.
However, reports indicate prosecutors may now pursue homicide charges following the medical examiner’s findings.
Authorities also reported that Bonaparte recently rejected a plea deal, which could further impact the direction of the case. It remains unclear whether Bonaparte’s teenage daughter will face criminal charges related to the incident. The case remains ongoing as prosecutors review the next steps following Turnipseed’s death.
